We’ll assume you already have a WordPress website setup for this guide. If you haven’t created one already, you can follow our guide on how to create a restaurant website

Then, follow these steps.

Step 1: Install the online ordering platform plugin, Orderable.

To get started, you can purchase Orderable from Orderable.com.

You will receive an email with a .zip file that contains both the Orderable Free version file and the Orderable Pro. Download and save them on your computer.

Then, follow these steps to install Orderable:

  1. Go to Plugins > Add New from your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page.
  3. Upload the .zip file containing Orderable files from your computer and click Install Now
  4. Finally, click the Activate button on the next page to use the plugin and enter your license key.
  5. Repeat the steps for Orderable Pro.

Once done, click on Orderable in your WordPress menu to open the setup screen and proceed to step 2.

Step 2: Enter your restaurant business information

Click the blue Begin button, and Orderable will automatically install WooCommerce (if you haven’t already). This ecommerce plugin will allow us to add food items to your restaurant site and accept online payment.

  1. Next, you can add all your restaurant business details here, including the name of your restaurant, contact information, address, city, country, and postcode. 

This info is important because it gives your customers an overview of your business.

  1. You can set your restaurant’s opening and closing hours, choose which services you offer (delivery, pickup, or both), etc.

That’s it. If you missed anything in step 2, you can go to Orderable > Locations and tweak a few settings. These include store settings like delivery/pickup, lead time, service hours,  holidays, etc.

Step 3: Add menu items to your restaurant website

This step is straightforward, and we’ll do it directly from your WordPress dashboard.

Just follow these simple steps:

  1. From the WordPress dashboard, go to Products > Add New to open your products page.
  2. On this page, you will add all your product information. These include the product price, their categories, enticing descriptions, high-quality images, and more.

  1. Once you’re happy with all the information you’ve added, scroll up to the top of the page and click the Publish button.

Step 4: Create a product layout for your menu

The product menu layout is what your customers will see on the front end of your website. If this layout is well-designed, you can easily convince your customers to order and enhance their customer experience.

To create a product layout, take the following steps:

  1. Go to Orderable > Layout Builder from your WordPress dashboard and click the Add New button at the top of the page. 
  2. Next, give your layout a name and select whether you want to display it as a Grid or List.
  3. In the Section dropdown, you can determine what the product categories we created in Step 3 will look like.
  4. Adjust the rest of your settings to your liking.

  1. You can see a live preview of your menu layout at the bottom of the page. 
  2. If you’re happy with what you see, click Publish to save the layout.

Now that we’ve created your layout, we need to add it to a page on your site. To do this: 

  1. On your WordPress dashboard, hover over Pages and click Add New. This new page will be your shop page. 
  2. Give it a name and click the black + sign to add a block.
  3. Next, search for Orderable in the search area and click the Orderable: Product Layout block. This will add a product layout to the page editor. 
  4. Select your layout from the right-hand Layout dropdown and Publish.

Step 5: Customize your schedule
